Mission Statement

Virtual and alive!  Unlocking dementia – a comprehensive resource center for those living with dementia, their caregivers and anyone seeking additional knowledge about dementia.

Using shared information and understandable explanations, Unlocking Dementia is dedicated to providing a smooth transition into dementia through immediate access to a virtual library. 

Dementia is still a disease that needs more research.  We don’t have all the answers and are learning more every day.  Newly discovered and accurately identified information needs to be disseminated to the public quickly.  The reality of today for those living with dementia may change as quickly as a heartbeat.  The caregiver and those living with dementia need access to information just as quickly.   

Currently, one in ten adults over 65 are living with dementia and by 2030, there will be more senior citizens over the age of 60 than teenagers under the age of 15 in the United States.  Dementia is not going anywhere and although it is currently a disease feared more than cancer, it will someday be treatable.  Until that day and beyond, Unlocking Dementia will provide the tools, resources, and support to help those living with dementia and their caregivers.
